Degree and Certificate Programs

The Barenboim‐Said Akademie (BSA) offers three different programs aimed at the different stages of a musician’s career development and musical skills. For musicians looking for undergraduate education, the BSA offers an accredited four‐year Bachelor of Music degree in all orchestral instruments, piano, and composition. Non‐accredited programs offered at the BSA include an Artist Diploma certificate program for advanced musicians who are preparing to embark on a performing career, and a Preparatory Program. The Barenboim‐Said Akademie is a state‐recognized institute of higher learning in accordance with Berlin higher education law.

A Supportive Environment

The BSA offers comprehensive stipends to all Bachelor of Music and Preparatory Program students. Additionally, the Akademie offers complimentary individual academic advising, Alexander Technique courses and Counselling Services for all students.

Performance Opportunities

The world‐renown Pierre Boulez Saal provides students a nurturing environment to take their first steps under the spotlight: as part of their curriculum, students present several one‐hour concerts during the academic year, introducing themselves to their audiences.

An International Ensemble

Students and faculty hail from over 26 countries representing a world of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The Akademie is also unique in that it focuses on admissions from the Middle East and North Africa.

Admission is a two‐step process: applying and auditioning.
