Call for application: Individual fellowship for the academic year 2025/26 at Hamburg Institute for Advanced Study

The new call for application for the individual fellowships at Hamburg Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS) is out now.

HIAS awards individual scholarships to scientists and artists who are internationally visible in their respective fields. Applicants should demonstrate creativity and originality and be willing to contribute to a community of scientists, artists and cultural workers and to engage with a broad public in the city of Hamburg in the form of lectures and other forms of events.

Who can apply?

  • Eligible to apply are researchers of all disciplines and all career stages from the postdoctoral level onwards, as well as outstanding artists and cultural professionals – from all parts of the world
  • A doctorate/ PhD is required for fellows working in academia
  • Very good knowledge of English is necessary

What is being promoted?

  • Individual fellowship for scholars and artists who are granted full freedom to pursue their own research projects (3-10 months duration for the academic year 2025/2026) on-site in Hamburg
