The focus of the programme is on improving higher education in developing countries, which leads to the result of improving compatibility with labour markets, contributing to economic development and counteracting “brain drain”. The programme aims to increase the practical relevance of degree programmes and to improve the business-oriented profile of higher education institutions in the developing countries named in the special initiative. This will be achieved through the active participation of the German and local business community.

Eligible to apply are state and state-recognised German higher education institutions.

The DAAD funds projects with a duration of up to up to 3.5 years. The special initiative gives priority to the following clusters:

  • Tunisia: Automotive industry, Digital economy, Renewable energies, Logistics, Aviation industry, Mechanical Engineering, Water management
